‘Low Androgens, High Impact: Clinical Insights for Midlife Men and Women’
By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Describe the physiological roles of androgensin both men and women, including their effects on metabolism, musculoskeletal health, cognition, and overall vitality.
- Identify typical patterns of androgen decline in midlife, and recognize how these patterns may differ by sex and individual physiology.
- Interpret key androgen-related markers on the DUTCH test, including hormone levels and metabolic patterns relevant to aging and stress physiology.
- Recognize stress- and metabolism-related factorsthat may contribute to low androgen states and impaired anabolism.
- Apply DUTCH test findings to clinical case examplesinvolving low androgens in both male and female patients.
- Discuss common therapeutic optionsfor addressing low androgens, including hormonal and non-hormonal approaches, within a functional medicine context.

‘Menopause and the Microbiome: Clinical Strategies for Restoring Digestive and Metabolic Health’
This session explores how declining sex hormones impact gut function and systemic health during menopause. We examine how hormonal shifts trigger bloating, altered motility, and compromised gut barrier integrity, and discuss how these changes can contribute to systemic inflammation, altered glucose and lipid metabolism, and metabolic dysregulation. Practical strategies to restore digestive tolerance, regularity, and metabolic resilience will be discussed.
We will highlight dietary fibre as a foundational intervention to support microbial diversity, short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) production, gut barrier integrity, and balanced oestrogen metabolism via the estrobolome. The role of partially hydrolysed guar gum (PHGG) and specific probiotic strains will also be covered to support digestive, inflammatory, and metabolic outcomes in peri- and postmenopausal women.
Key Learning Outcomes:
• Understand microbiome changes and their impact on menopausal health
• Explain the estrobolome’s role in hormone metabolism
• Apply dietary fibre and PHGG to improve gut function and SCFA production
• Implement practical strategies for common digestive complaints at menopause
• Use targeted probiotics and nutraceuticals to restore gut function and metabolic health
